Trolltunga is a rock formation (projecting horizontally from the mountainside) at 1100 meters above sea level, about 700 meters above Ringedalsvatnet lake in Skjeggedal near Tyssedal in Ullensvang municipality, Vestland county. Tyssedal is situated between the fjord and the mountains, on the eastern side of Sørfjorden in Hardanger, and at the foot of Hardangervidda.

The rock formation has, due to sensational photos shared on the internet since around 2010, attracted a large number of visitors, with over 100,000 visitors per year.

The hike is considered very demanding and suitable for experienced hikers. The trip from Skjeggedal takes about ten to twelve hours. Especially the final descent to Tyssedal is challenging for untrained individuals.
