Bryggen in Bergen
Bryggen in Bergen, also known as Tyskebryggen and Hansabryggen, comprises the old wooden buildings and fireproof stone cellars in the historic city center of Bergen. Bryggen was founded by Olav Kyrre around 1070 and was, from 1360 to 1754, the seat of the German Office in the city and the central hub for Hanseatic trade in Norway. The Hanseatic Company was also the first trading company in the Nordic countries. Bryggen consists of approximately 1.3 hectares with 61 listed buildings and is on UNESCO's list of world heritage sites.
Bryggen is the third most visited tourist attraction in Norway.
