Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) is a mountain plateau on the north side of Lysefjorden in Strand municipality in Rogaland. Preikestolen is an almost flat mountain plateau, approx. 25 × 25 m and has a vertical drop of 604 meters down to Lysefjorden.

Preikestolen is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Ryfylke region and in Norway. There is a good view of Lysefjorden and the surrounding moors from the plateau.

From ancient times, the plateau was called Hyvlatonnå (the carpenter's plane tooth).

Preikestolen is one of Norway's most visited tourist attractions with over 400,000 visitors a year.  

Ascent and length: The hike starts at Preikestolen Mountain Lodge, approximately 120 meters above sea level, and ends at 604 meters. The total ascent is approximately 672 meters, with a round trip length of around 8 kilometers.

Difficulty: The hike is considered moderate and usually takes 3-4 hours round trip for most hikers.
