Bryggen in Bergen small box
Bryggen in Bergen, also known as Tyskebryggen and Hansabryggen, comprises the old wooden buildings and fireproof stone cellars in the historic city center of Bergen. Bryggen was founded by Olav Kyrre around 1070 and was the seat of the German Office in the city from 1360 to 1754, serving as the central hub for Hanseatic trade in Norway. The Hanseatic League was also the Nordic region's first trading company. Bryggen consists of approximately 13 acres with 61 protected buildings and is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
