Trolltunga is a rock formation (projecting horizontally from the mountainside) at 1100 meters above sea level, about 700 meters above Ringedalsvatnet lake in Skjeggedal by Tyssedal in Ullensvang municipality, Vestland county. Tyssedal is located between fjord and mountain, on the eastern side of Sørfjorden in Hardanger, and at the foot of Hardangervidda.

Due to striking images shared online since around 2010, the rock formation has attracted a large number of visitors, with over 100,000 visitors per year.

The hike is considered very demanding and suitable for experienced hikers. The trip from Skjeggedal takes about ten to twelve hours. Especially the final descent to Tyssedal is challenging for untrained individuals.
