Trolltungais a rock outcrop (projecting horizontally from the mountainside) at 1,100 meters above sea level, about 700 meters above Ringedalsvatnet in Skjeggedal near Tyssedal in Ullensvang Municipality, Vestland County. Tyssedalis located between the fjord and the mountains, on the east side of Sørfjorden in Hardanger, and at the foot of Hardangervidda.  

Due to striking photos shared online from around 2010, the rock formation has attracted a large number of visitors, with over 100,000 visitors per year.

The hike is considered very demanding and is intended for experienced hikers. The hike from Skjeggedal takes about ten to twelve hours. The final descent to Tyssedal, in particular, is challenging for those who are out of shape.
